Service Description: For the scales 1:5.000.000 and less detailed, data are aggregated by country. In such case, a pie or bar charts show 1) the distribution of the different bathing water categories, 2) percentage of inland waters (lakes and rivers) and coastal waters, and 3) percentage of bathing water quality for coastal waters and inland waters.
For the scale more detailed than 1:5 000.000, individual bathing water sites (points) are visible instead of classified cartogram and are coloured according the classification of bathing water quality. For bathing places that are insufficiently sampled under the strict frequency rules, orange outline of symbol showing status of bathing places by less strict rules is presented. For an explanation of less strict and strict rules see the chapter “Information about the data”. Data source:

Symbol size depends on the map scale (more detailed map = bigger symbols). Symbol shape depends on bathing water type (sea, lake, and river) where the bathing place is placed. For bathing places that are insufficiently sampled under the strict frequency rules, orange outline of symbol showing status of bathing places by less strict rules is presented. For an explanation of less strict and strict rules see the chapter “Information about the data”.
