Description: Coastal waters influenced by river run-off and terrestrial inputs indicator in the Southern European Seas. The indicator highlight the influence of coastal waters toward the open ocean. River’s plumes (Danube, Po, Rhone, Gironde estuary and Nile) are evident are affecting vast areas of the open ocean and of the surrounding coastal zones. Moreover it is evident that the rivers plumes do not spread homogeneously but they are affected by ocean currents: in the case of Rhone westward currents transport the plumes in that direction and similarly the Po plume is transported south.
